It's true that most authors based their writings on scenarios specific to a certain group of people,though I must say it is based largely on actual results and findings from extensive researches done. But maybe you can try to see it in a more general manner, where you get the gist of the whole scenario and sort of make amends to it, and try applying that into your life (if you do trust the writings of these authors). :)
