Personality typing systems abound on the internet, some of them more reputable than others. FB quizzes and other social media sites will tell you everything from which cartoon character we are most like to what love story our life most resembles. Yaa you can spend hours answering the questions that help you clarify what you are like and some personality buckets you fit into. These are fun but are they really useful???

One of the biggest "ah ha" moments for me is understanding the vast differences in personality types. I used to be confused or take it personally when someone wouldn't be pleased by the same thing that pleased me. I feel like the picture I see from my eyes are a different world from others seeing it..sometimes :) But I learn to know that ppl with diff personality types aint trying to be frustrating nor annoying- they are just being genuine :) They are probably just as frustrated and annoyed by me as I am by them ROFL.

Lastly, a favorite quote of the day to share.
"It seems to me we can never give up longing and wishing while we are alive. There are certain things we feel to be beautiful and good, and we must hunger for them." - George Eliot

over the last year I'd read lots of reading materials on self-improvement. One common theme I found in almost everything I read was to emphasize on gratitude. In an effort to increase gratitude in my life, I tried to list some things that have given to me for ntg. My education. My car. My laptop. My phone. It was so easy for me to think of these things because I truly feel like I did ntg to get them. After I aware of those subtle things I am given, I took the next inevitable step, I become thankful on my existence.

I dunno how I end up in this world, but i wake up everyday grateful for the opportunity to experience life.

have a great day ppl

Confidence is one of the most attractive traits. I am always attracted by ppl with confidence. Its like a transformation of a somewhat ordinary man to a very sexy performer once he/she has confidence.

Of course there's a fine line btw confidence and arrogance. As attractive as I find confidence, I find arrogance equally unattractive. What's the diff? An arrogant person will act though he is better than others. He may gossip or put others down in order to elevate his own status. He may spend most of his time telling you all about this accomplishments w/o interest in urs. Arrogance may seem like confidence BUT my belief is that its a form of insecurity. Arrogant ppl need to prove their worth by putting others down or by talking about themselves. Confident ppl feel good enough about themselves that they dont need validation from others.

Being well informed is the best way to build self confidence. Education, perhaps its the greatest gift parents can give to their child. Its an asset that multiplies in value as the years go by, standing us in good stead when life throws the unexpected. But I think education is not just about going to school or college and piling up the degrees behind our name. Its the learning process which augments our knowledge and provides us with ENHANCED SKILL, ACUMEN and WISDOM.

To me, i think the best part of being well informed is that it allows us to communicate intelligently. Learning and knowledge allow us to put forth our ideas more eloquently and with greater conviction. We're sure of what we wanna say and how to say it, This makes our msg more powerful and ensures that it has the intended effect. I am pretty enjoying talking with more seasoned ppl. Their advices and point of views are sharp. I love it. Though it hurts sometimes :P

Re-examine

I nearly put off writing this because of an insidious disease that strikes on me from time to time. I suffer a lot from that. and that disease is called procrastination.

That was a joke..if you missed it :)

Its like the friend of mediocre. because it keeps saying that it will get around to do it..somewhere into the never never future of nth ever getting done. But sometimes, things are not ironed up even though you'd put ur best feet. That's life. Inviting chaos into our life could be interesting. TnC is you must have a strong heart.

You might be wondering why in the world ppl would love to invite more unpredictability and frenzy into their life?! But hang in there..its like bombarding ourselves with decision-making situations on a second by second basis. How often do our plans go acc to plan anyway??

So I tell myself to embrace what I cant control, and enjoy the ride a lil more. All I have to do is ACCEPT what happens and CHOOSE how I wanna react to it. This gets easier with practice I think.

Heading down a winding road doesn't have to be scary..At the end of the day, it can all be a lil exhausting. But no matter what I do , I take it as a recommendation to my heart. After all, being alive is, unarguably, the greatest gift there is in this world. All the pleasure and pain wouldn't be possible if our heart are not beating. our eyes not blinking or our heart not singing. (Having a lil emotional for I was informed that someone having kidney failure at the age of 22 and dropped out from university)

There are literally hundreds if not thousands of little things we can do to raise the bar in our lives. So many of these things are easy to do. and can be accomplished in less than 10 seconds. They just require an intentional effort. Well, what is critical to understand is that the ultimate fulfilment and happiness will come from doing the little things that matter.

Things that come across my mind with a short list of things we can do in less than 10 seconds.

  • make it a point to say the words " i love you " to the ppl in ur home every single day
  • offer a friendly authentic smile. A smile radiates warmth, put ppl at ease and makes you likable :)
  • make comfortable eye contact
  • offer a word of encouragement. yea sometimes this is all a person needs to build confidence and take the next big step. This is BIG !
  • accept responsibility when you're wrong. Its the sign of a person with character.
  • congratulate ur opponents. Good sportsmanship is evidence of leadership.
  • Click the LIKE button on someone's FB post. Its an easy way to demonstrate interest :)
  • Lastly, give someone a hug. A hug is a sign that you really care for the other person.

Soon everyone will be walking around humming holiday tunes and acting jollier than usual. Merry Christmas.

Christmas. A day when family and friends gather for a time of celebration and feasting. Soon ur turkey and stuffing will be in the oven and pleasant aromas will fill the kitchen. I am smiling while running my fingers on the keyboard right this moment picturing the smiles on everyone's face. In fact, there is christmas caroling in my house couple of hours ago. Almost 30 of them with Christmas hat on, showered us with joyful Christmas carols. I am truly blessed.

I feel refreshed and full of life.

For many of us this holiday season will be filled with delicious food, exciting presents, and fun memories as we spend time with our families. That, however, will not be the case for some ppl. I came across with an article. Its about a girl from Swaziland, Africa. She suffered from disability. and more about Swazi culture, ppl with disability are viewed as being demon possessed. The unfortunate girl, who is already struggling for survival, have to bear an additional burden.

To dismay, her dad had abandoned her years before and her mother remarried, didn't want her and left her behind. Her great grandmother is now raising her. The volunteer who has paid her a visit in Swaziland, told the great grandmother :"you've got one special girl here" But her reaction was shocking. She said," You can have her! "

yet through all these, she maintained the surprisingly positive spirit.

and I just couldn't get her out of my heart and mind.

In our busy and demanding lives, its easy to focus on our challenges and overlook the things we are truly blessed to enjoy. Its always easy to lament what we dont have, rather than appreciate what we do have. Dont take anything you have for granted. Instead express ur gratitude for all ur many blessings. Great and small.

3 billion ppl on the face of the earth go to bed hungry every night. But 4 billion ppl go to bed every night hungry for a simple word of encouragement and recognition.

If you would like to see how ur words impacting on others, watch this award winning clip. It is one of the best clip I'd ever seen besides earthlings. Watch it when you have the spare 17 minutes :)

The wrong words can rip ppl apart and make them wonder if they ever had anything in common at all. The right ones can draw ppl closer and make them wonder how they ever lived apart. After all, the fabric of relationship is fragile. The words you use either sew the stitches tighter together, or loosen the seams till the fraying threads can barely hold themselves together.

To be a wise lady you would have to fulfil a couple of requirements.

  • Be Real
  • Have Confidence
  • Dress Fashionably
  • Express Intellect
  • Be Sweet and Feminine
  • Tell him what you want
  • Stay Glamorous
  • Like Your Body
  • Quit Being Needy Little Girl

quote from Violet Lim

Saturday, December 4, 2010

a man who is walking along a cliff and all of a
sudden loses his balance, slips, and falls off. Fortunately, he
has the presence of mind to grab on to the ledge, and he’s
hanging there for dear life. He hangs and hangs and finally
yells out, “Is there anybody up there who can help me?”
There’s no answer. He keeps calling and calling, “Is there
anybody up there who can help me?” Finally this big bellowing
voice calls back, “This is God. I can help you. Just let go and
trust.” Next thing you hear: “Is there anybody else up there
who can help me?”

quote from T Harv Eker.

So what do you think about the moral of the story? :)

Monday, November 29, 2010

Officially 22 year old lady very soon so here I am to review some habits and changes that I would like to adjust in the coming year. Changes are always good, to keep myself enticed, as long as it is in a right direction.

First. Make a pact of myself to read sth that isn't work nor exams oriented each day. Language is powerful. and books deliver many messages and scenarios that help u travel in ur mind. After all, the sky is the limit with the book on ur lap :)

Second. Am trying to adopt the habits of healthy eater whether it is to sharpen my memory, improve my health, stabilize my mood, or boost my energy level. Choosing a healthy diet does not mean we have to be unrealistically thin nor depriving ourselves. Exercise. Being active and staying in shape boosts our mood. Physical fitness is a lifelong commitment and doing ourselves a lifelong favour too :)

Third. Be a kid again. Still remember the days when we couldn't wait to go outside and explore the great big world ? Hide and seek in the back yard. Explore local woodlands for private buried treasure. There is an air of excitement and mystery of unknown. Even though we are not likely to engage in hide and seek as adult, being outside still hold the magic for our souls I believe, reminding me that the world outside is bigger than the wall surrounding us.

ps. Get myself a book from the bookstore last afternoon !

ps. Why do girls tend to carry around emotional baggage? I think the simple answer to this question is that girls tend to be more emotional than men, period. We are more in touch with our emotions, we are more intuitive about other ppl's emotions, and we are more affected by emotions whether they are our own or someone else's. It's all part of our natural built in characteristics as nurturers and social creatures. Okay we just cant be good if we aren't adept at reading, interpreting and using emotions in everyday life.

Sunday, November 28, 2010

At times submissive and demure can easily go overboard and push ppl away on the other end of spectrum. Needy. Insecure. You lose ur masculinity and rediscover ur feminine self.

Tuesday, November 23, 2010

ur value. ur voice.

Walking around acting a role someone else cast you in? Maybe you ignore ur calling because you're afraid what a loved one will think of ur choice. Or perhaps, you live in a carefully perfectly constructed veil , never letting anyone else seeing the REAL you. Because, if they cant see the real you, they cant dislike the real you. Right ?

When you live ur life unafraid of what others think about you, a funny thing happens. By being the genuine you, you will attract more and more genuine ppl into ur world. Be true to ur values and voices. Dont break the layer of who you are, just to be more popular. Its just difficult to feel truly confident behind a facade that would shatter at any moment.

Hmm..sometimes its easy to look at others and believe they have it EASY. But everyone struggles with fear and vulnerability. If someone claims to live in absence of struggle then they;re either telling a half truth or a whole lie !! Life is filled with obstacles..and its fare more honrable to praise the crushing of barrier and boundary than it is to never have them at all right?

ps. DONE with my dance test =)

the perfect mix

Some ppl appear to be hopped up on happy pills, being oblivious to any bad events going on around them. Others are all too quick to express their disgust at anything that doesn't go exactly their way..

Could it be that the healthiest emotional mix is somewhere btw the extremes? Say, 4 parts good feelings to 1 part bad feelings, shaken not stirred, and served with a twist of lime? =D

Sometimes we should just move away from calculation and towards a hunch and trust ourselves enough to rely on instinct. I follow my heart once. I was irrational. and its not a good ending though I have to say that. Well the chapters of our life should have sharpened our instinct. Sometimes my thoughts are critical, worrisome, and victimizing.

Consider the evolutionary purpose of pain. If you were to stick ur hand in a fire, it hurts. The pain would make you quickly recoil ur hand and run off in search of water. Of course you not gonna enjoy the pain, BUT if you din feel it, you would just leave ur hand in the fire and get serious burn. The pain tells you that you are doing sth WRONG, and provides some very strong motivation to correct it immediately. I think it works the same way with emotions :)

There are two extremes.

Staying constantly focused on what's wrong with my life may make me determined to fix the problems, but it will put me through far more misery than necessary..But acting like a Pollyanna on a Prozac all the time may make me feel good but it wont inspire me to action when sth goes wrong..

Make the most of what life has to offer :)

regrets of the dying

I'd recently read this article called " Regrets of the Dying " which I found to be breathtaking. The author works for many years at the palliative care, with patients on their dying bed, and this article synthesizes the common regrets these ppl have.

as time goes by ppl are having some worries too. and these are all I could think of.

  • getting old and highly aware of passing time
  • getting sick and highly aware of fragility
  • seriously contemplating their lives and death for some reasons

We all know the only solution is to stop saying : I WISH I DID WHAT I WANT instead of what others wanted me to do. But as I'd said in the previous post, most ppl are insane including me where often we keep repeating the same thing over and over again while expecting the diff results so hey ya we are in the same routine recycling :)

Often ppl are telling that

" I wish I didn't study in Engineering because my family wanted me to do so. I wish I'd chosen Mass Com instead, which is my real passion.... "

" I wish I didn't get married so fast because all my friends were getting married expecting me to do the same thing soon. I wish I'd stayed single longer.... "

sounds familiar right? hahaha

Sometimes life is throwing us a curve ball that leading us to temporarily become someone other than who we really are. But inside, we're all good ppl. I think you are a good person too. We just have yet unleashing our inner BEAST on others. You are just way tooooo true to your values and voice, not wanted to break the layer of who you are because it is always hard to stay behind a facade that would shatter.

I am still learning not to fret about the past which I can't change and not overly concern with future which will show itself in due time. Focus on right now, this moment =) Distractions and annoyances are really plentiful but just dont let these minor things get under our skin. Nth is forever so take time to be thankful =D

Too bad the ability to stay positive cant be bought in a store and I am so glad that I'd attended a talk called 道与教的分析 ytday night that inspire me a lot. Days have been interesting. I'd started to gain momentum to storm through the ton of work, final year project, piling up lecture notes, assignments, real work out for badminton with fellow course mates which are truly fun and frolic, pulling out for parties, and it really makes me feeling good as a final year student =)

World is as big as you allow it to be.

xoxo

lets get enticed !!

I am back, feeling fresh after battery recharging. Home is always a place where you can close the door and get away from it all. I have some hard time gotten over the hurdle, for many it is a massive hurdle indeed. and right now, I am having the strong positive energy to turn miserable and morose to happy, fun and frolic. The choice is mine. and I am choosing the one that makes me feeling more confident, and better overall. ( hopefully it is not some kind of self delusion nor being pollyanna but a concious decision to look at things positively =D )

Okay in order to study SMARTER play HARDER, I shall really look into task prioritization and time management. Being ENTICED! yea I know it is not enough just to do them by going thru all those motions. Because things are not going to get any better. You know what, ppl rarely change. It is the unfortunate regrettable truth. We often say that insanity is doing the same thing over and over again...and expecting diff results but nevertheless, we keep doing the same thing over and over again while expecting diff results lol !

So, according to this definition, MOST PPL ARE INSANE. yes my life isn't going to get better because I am insane too =D )

so people, lets make a move and quit this game. I'd been a lil lost in the past 4 weeks and now I am back !

say cheeseee i love laughing :D
because laughter not only makes me feeling good, but it is also cement to relationship regardless friendship and family love. The truth is nothing feels much better than seeing the one you love break out into a huge grin and start laughing and laughing until they'd lost their breath. So why dont share your sense of humor with me :)

the best we are

There are things that ppl do when they are 18. and quit doing it when they are 22.

when ppl are 18, their emotions are driven by ppl they like.

and when ppl are 22, they start to see the true value of others, conquer daily, repair characters, and make themselves necessary. Ideally. But sometimes they'd lied to themselves about the lack of power and they'd forgotten that they believe in a lie.

Fortunately, they are blessed with the ability to step back from their thoughts.

Often we think that we are qualified for more than we're getting from life. But we are wrong. Many ppl think that "Law Of Attraction" is a get-rich-quick scheme. Just sit at home, dream on some stuff and "poof" a magically dream life appears. Hopefully you know this is far-far from the truth. Very FAR !

I used to complain a lot. But I am getting rid of it though sometimes I do complaining, still :( (but more to manja lah *grinning* ) I think what we are attracted are what we're qualified for, its what we deserve. What we get is what we are, after all. Its scientific. Its mathematical.

We are not unlucky. We just have yet to improve into the better person who attracts all the things that we want from our lives. Well, the unpopular truth is, we are 100% responsible on what's going on in our lives. and I am lucky to have someone I could vent the bottled feelings and the advices you share are always kept in my mind. I might struggle, but one day I will survive and do a very good job :)

At times submissive and demure can easily go overboard and push ppl away on the other end of spectrum. Needy. Insecure. You lose ur masculinity and rediscover ur feminine self.

ur value.

World is as big as you allow it to be.

lets get enticed !!
